Accreditation is an interesting term and other than accreditation
provided through the International Standards Organization (ISO), or the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) which is a proprietary
program created by a private, for-profit or not-for-profit Industry
Trade Association to add credibility to a firm’s reputation, if the
member pursues it.
Significant costs are assessed to a prospective member in order to
become accredited, proposing a significant additional income stream to
the Association. We believe this Association-bestowed accreditation is a
testament to an association member’s willingness to seek the
accreditation and is not necessarily akin to the quality of their
product or process, unlike Bureau Reseller Certification which can only
be achieved and maintained if the product and the process are proven to
the host provider on a daily basis. In short, a Bureau Reseller loses
its ability to resell information from its primary sources if
non-compliant.
Compliance is thus forced and not voluntary.
APSCREEN as the oldest, continuously operated factual employment
screening company in the U.S. (Since 1980); a Certified Consumer
Reporting Agency, and a Certified Reseller of all three Consumer
Reporting Agencies (EXPERIAN, EQUIFAX and TRANSUNION) maintains a
reseller compliance regimen to the “EXPERIAN Standard”, the most
rigorous in the information industry. We do not believe that, as a fully
compliant & Certified 3-Bureau Reseller that we need to duplicate
efforts in order to receive proprietary trade association
“accreditation”, since our annual re-certification as a reseller bureau
confirms 100% ongoing compliance with FACTA, FCRA, G-L-B & IRSG as well
as uniform daily implementation of bureau reseller policies, affording
the ultimate protection in Consumer Privacy and the safeguarding against
Identity Theft, which is what “compliance”, “certification” and
“accreditation” are ultimately all about; imprimis. |
